This file holds all NPC conversations, complete with keywords and script commands. Obviously this contains HUGE spoilers, so read at your own risk. Any comments are welcome.

Index:
- Brittany includes East, North and West Brittany.
- Huts include Grendel's, Iolo's, Sin'Vraal's and Sutek's.
- Lighthouses include Fogsbane, Greyhaven, Stormcrow and Waveguide,
There are a couple of standard parts in a conversation:
- Look:
- What the NPC looks like; this is shown when you enter conversation.
- Greet:
- Something you're told when you enter conversation with someone you've met before.
- Job:
- The answer to the keyword 'job'.
- Bye:
- The answer to the keyword 'bye', before conversation is ended.
The rest of the stuff is keywords and the NPC's reaction to those. For example, the line "yell: gree: That is a color." means that in response to
the keywords 'yell' and 'gree' (or anything starting with that, such as
'yellow' and 'greed') will respond 'That is a color.'
Script written in a sans-serif font is Runic. If you have the Ultima Runes on your system, the script will display in that font. If you do not, it will display in Comic Sans MS or Arial.
Everything starting with $ is in fact a script command. A quick explanation:
- $AddKarma
- adds five karma points; note that the conversation is coded so that you can do this only once.
- $Ask
- branches to the given question routine
- $AskName
- the player's name is asked; this is a standard routine. If the player answers truthfully, he has 'met' the NPC - so the point of the '
$AskName $IfMet' combo is to figure out whether the player gives his true name (and get angry if he doesn't)
- $CallGuard
- guards in the location will chase and attack the player; in some cases, most notably Balinor, this includes the NPC itself
- $Default
- see $Question
- $DropKarma
- subtracts a karma point
- $End
- conversation ends; NPC turns away
- $Give
- the party is given something; the object given depends on the NPC and ranges from food and lockpicks to the sextant, spyglass and grappling hook. Or a duck; ask Dupre.
- $IfKarma
- activates the following command only if the player's karma is high enough; I'm not sure what the limit is
- $IfMet
- activates the following command only if the NPC has 'met' the player. In game terms this means he has asked the player's name and received a truthful answer. The command AFTER that is only activated if the NPC has NOT yet met the player.
- $Joins
- if there are less than six party members, this NPC joins in and conversation ends. Otherwise, give a standard error.
- $Nop
- as most assembly coders know, this does nothing
- $Name
- the player's name is filled in here
- $Page
- page break; wait until the player presses a key
- $Question
- this is a question subroutine. Keywords may produce different results while in here; the default is for any other keyword and usually aborts the question.
- $TakeGold
- NPC takes said amount of gold, or aborts the conversation branch if the party doesn't have that much, producing a standard error
